The William Benton Museum of Art is Connecticut’s State art museum, located on the University of Connecticut campus at Storrs. Drawing largely from its fine collection of over 7,500 works of art, the Museum presents exhibitions of art dating from the 15th through the 21st centuries which include paintings, drawings, watercolors, prints, photographs, and sculptures. The museum also creates special exhibitions drawn from outside sources as well as loaned exhibitions. Special events include gallery talks, campus art walks, academic and non-academic discussions, musical performances, and family programs.

Curriculum Connections & Themes:
We like to have our curriculum connections relate to the current exhibitions as well as our permanent collection.
For 2025 and 2026, the Museum will focus its curriculum connections on America 250 using our upcoming exhibitions Encounters with the Collection: Exploring America at 250 and Encounters with the Collection: Reframing America at 250.
We will be using object-based learning, especially as it pertains to humanities themes such as identity, place, and ideas/ideals. This prompts the students to discuss the works. Creating dialogs encourages students to practice their observation skills while formulating their own comments, while also practicing their empathy skills as they listen to what their peers have to say.
