Honoring Connecticut’s State Heroine, this National Historic Landmark tells the powerful story of Prudence Crandall, who boldly opened a school for Black and Brown girls in the 1830s. Despite arrests, a mob attack, and state opposition, her stand for educational equity influenced major civil rights milestones. Today, the museum invites visitors into conversation about justice, history, and continuing the fight for access to education.
